Having a life coach is a partnership, so I’ll help you through that initial question. Sometimes you know the answer already, and sometimes, it’s a little bit vague. Regardless, we’ll work through the answers together, and then I’ll help you overcome obstacles, and lead a fulfilling life in whatever way you like.

Coaching takes a holistic approach, and while we’ll examine areas that are not working, you’ll find the process also reaffirms your strengths, values and core beliefs. It’s a very positive experience overall.

Life and Wellness Coaching:
You can expect to be challenged on long-held beliefs or thoughts, which may be holding you back unconsciously. We’ll seek to replace negative thoughts with more positive ones, and at the end, you’ll emerge with improved personal insight – and the tools to change your life, in whatever way you want.

ORIGINS OF THE COMPANY NAME AND LOGO
Paul set out 4 years ago to formalise his coaching passion and expertise and started a Certificate IV in Life Coaching from the Life Coaching Institute. Unfortunately, tragedy struck his family, including the loss of his oldest sister. He put the course on hold. He held onto his dream of completing the course and started to think ahead to names and a logo for the company.

He wanted something that was powerful, spiritual and evoked emotion. It was important to represent his strong values, passion for helping others and ethics. He needed potential clients to understand that he really appreciates how unhealthy thoughts, actions and life barriers can impact them. Over the past 40 years he has been there several times! He wanted to assure clients that his life experience would enhance his abilities to take a holistic view of their needs and this would supplement his coaching style and skills.

The journey started with the logo. He spent hours searching for something suitable but could not find what he wanted. On another day he continued his search and by happenstance turned to his bookcase in his study. It suddenly came to him…. He noticed one of the ornamental turtles that his sister had given him before she passed away. His sister was very spiritual and considered the turtle her favourite animal. Her collection was vast. His sister had always supported him in his coaching endeavours, and was, herself a part time counsellor. It all suddenly made sense.

In most cultures the turtle is seen as being very spiritual and represents longevity, endurance, protection, persistence, continuation of life, strength, intuition, emotion, steady and stable. The turtle represented the values that Paul wanted his coaching practice to operate by.

It was through his desire to continue to recognise his sister’s belief in him and leave a legacy that the company logo was born.

He now needed to create a company name that supported the logo and its meaning. He engaged a branding company and developed a creative brief. He looked for an emotional name that spoke to to changing lives and overcoming barriers, while hinting at the core ideas of Authenticity, Compassion, Determination, Growth, Happiness, Inner Harmony, Kindness, Love, Optimism, Peace, Respect, Security, Spirituality, Stability, and Wisdom.

Over the next 10 days he received 2500 potential names (a company record) from creative writers competing to win the naming competition. He ultimately selected 6 that then went through audience testing. He finally selected one, amazingly it was the one that he himself selected on the very first day of the competition! It was a very emotional journey as it needed to represent his sister.

The company name: “Beyond The Shell” emerged. It became an obvious choice representing a client, through coaching with respect, trust and empathy “emerging from their shell”, happy to leave the security of the shell and emerge as a “better” self.

The company name and logo deserved a strong tag line to complement the powerful spiritual meaning and values of the turtle. Paul again turned to the branding company. This time he received over 1500 tag lines (another record). He again needed to select 6 for testing. He finally chose “Emerge, Life Awaits - the one that completed his vision
