## Description

Maltofer Iron syrup is for the treatment of dietary iron deficiency in adults/ adolescents where the use of ferrous iron supplements is not tolerated or is otherwise inappropriate.

It has fewer and milder side effects compared to ferrous iron supplements, therefore you experience lesser nausea and constipation, while still getting an effective dose of iron.

Maltofer iron is absorbed by the body in an active and controlled manner. The active ingredient in the syrup ensures your body only absorbs the iron that it needs and when it is needed.
## Ingredients

**Maltofer Syrup contains** 50mg iron/5 mL as 185 mg iron polymaltose.

Contains: hydroxybenzoates, sugars and sorbitol.

The maximum recommended daily dose contains 5.6g of sorbitol and small amounts of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100mg per 30mL.
## Directions for Use

**Treatment of iron deficiency in adults and adolescents (Children ≥ 12 years)**

Take 100 mg to 200 mg iron, 10 – 20 mL syrup, or 40-80 drops) daily preferably with food, or higher doses as directed by your medical practitioner.

**Prevention of iron deficiency in adults and adolescents (Children ≥ 12 years)**  

Take 100 mg iron, 10 mL syrup, or 40 drops daily preferably with food, or higher doses as directed by your medical practitioner.

The tablets can be consumed with water.
## Warnings

Always read the label and follow the directions for use. This medicine may not be right for you. If symptoms persist consult your healthcare professional.

Vitamin supplements should not replace a balanced diet. Vitamins can only be of assistance if the dietary intake is inadequate.

Do not use in children under the age of 12. Child resistant cap. Contains sucrose, hydroxybenzoates, sorbitol. The maximum daily recommended dose contains 12g sorbitol. Products containing sorbitol may have laxative effect or cause diarrhoea. If symptoms persist please see your medical practitioner. In some cases, better health outcomes have been noted when taken with food.
