overcoming barriers
No time or motivation to exercise? While there are numerous barriers to making movement a priority, we will help you overcome them.

By now, you know that being more active plays a key role in boosting your energy levels. You’ve been given some great tools to set goals and keep yourself accountable.
But when it comes to physical activity, what sort of movement is best? It’s important to remember that not all physical activity has to be exercise. What’s the difference?
- Exercise is planned, structured, repetitive, and generally has a desired outcome linked to physical strength or fitness.
- Physical activity is any movement that is carried out by the muscles that requires energy. This includes things like household chores and daily activities that require movement.
Here are 3 easy ways to be more active throughout the day:
Move more at work
Try walking meetings, park further away from the office or go for a walk at lunch instead of eating at your desk.

Reframe your chores as exercise
Chores like gardening and cleaning, especially when done with gusto, all count as physical activity!

Make it social
Getting your friends and family involved for a walk or game of backyard cricket will make it easier to increase your activity levels.

Overcoming barriers
We all know we’re supposed to be active, but a lot of us struggle to do it regularly. So, what’s holding us back? There are a wide range of barriers when it comes to making exercise a regular part of your daily life. The good news is that with some time and planning, a lot of these can be overcome.

Move your body in nature. Find green or blue (water) spaces to enjoy being active in. The natural light alone is good for your body clock let alone the exercise.
