Australians eligible for oral antivirals for COVID-19 include:

  • Those aged 70 or older, regardless of symptoms or risk factors.
  • 60 years or older, with one additional risk factor for developing severe conditions.
  • People aged 50 or older with two additional risk factors for severe illness or have had past a COVID-19 infection resulting in hospitalisation
  • First Nations people aged 30 or older with one additional risk factor for developing severe illness.
  • Individuals aged 18 or older who have been previously hospitalised due to COVID-19 and are re-infected.
  • Adults 18 or older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised.
  • Note: Oral antiviral COVID-19 treatments are not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If a telehealth consultation is not suitable for you, the healthcare professional you book with will alert you prior to or during your appointment. The typical wait time to speak to a doctor is 15 minutes. This may vary depending on availability and demand. Telehealth services are best suited when you cannot access your regular doctor. There are exclusions on what is eligible to be covered in a consultation, including the prescription of controlled, addictive or Schedule 8 medications. Hola doctors will not prescribe S8 medicines or drugs of dependence via Telehealth. Some weight loss medications and men's health medications may also not be prescribed. Please note any prescription products that is issued by a doctor may not come with repeats via Telehealth.Consultations are not suitable for emergencies, and you should contact 000 for an emergency.
