Drinking more water than your body needs can lead to hyponatremia (where the level of salt in the blood becomes too diluted!). This can happen when babies have highly diluted formula or rarely when people drink far too much water while exercising. However quite rare, it’s important to note and worth discussing with your doctor if you have any concerns.

The real heroes of hydration

Now let’s take a step back - you might be hydrating yourself better than you think! Fluid intake can come from a variety of drinks and foods - yes your food can contain water that contributes to hydration!

From your morning smoothie, to your last meal of the day, you are hydrating that amazing body of yours. Be it fruit, your vegetables at lunch or even the soup or stew you had at dinner time.
