The people of the Andena Mountains in Peru have always seen Ratanhia as a medicinal plant, especially used for inflammation in the mouth. They have also traditionally used Ratanhia root to clean their teeth. Weleda respects that wisdom and builds on it for natural health. The sturdy red root from the bushy Ratanhia plant is rich in tanning agents which protect and strengthen sore gums. It contains natural anti-bacterial qualities and Weleda has added calming myrrh and refreshing essential oils of peppermint and spearmint, with calcium-based cleansers for a naturally effective toothpaste. A healthy mouth with strong teeth is not only beautiful and comfortable, but also an important factor in the health of our entire organism.
